Divine Beauty

My name is Jophiel. I am the Archangel of Creativity. Patron Angel of Artists and Illumination. Companion to Metatron. I am also the angel who cast humanity from Paradise. For this I will never forgive myself so long as I exist...

A part of When the Levee Breaks.

Gone…

She had lost Adam.

He was gone, taken from her, all because she allowed herself to drop her guard for a second, just one second, and it cost her the one being she swore to protect. She didn’t care that Michael was going to tear her to shreds, she didn’t…. she was scared for Adam. What was worse is she couldn’t locate him… it meant that whoever took him… had put the sigils on his ribs. She began to pace, trying to think. Who has that truly been? Cause that was not her brother Gabriel. Gabriel would have never said such things, never try and manipulate a being she was trying to protect to turn on her. If anything her brother would have helped her and would have understood the situation. And if he was brought back, that meant they planned on letting the prophecy take place, Gabriel had been predestined to take down the Leviathan. He wouldn’t have needed to press her for information.

She felt awful cause she didn’t see it right away, she let her guard drop because of appearances. She told Adam to TRUST whoever that was. She had misled him, it was unknowingly but still because of her slip up. She couldn’t find him now, Father only knows what could be happening to him. Her chest felt tight and tears stung at her eyes. She failed him. Now Michael was going to smite before she could even get the chance to try and save him. She lets out a shuddered breath and look skyward. She was completely lost and she had no idea what to do to make this right…

She then got angry with herself. Sitting here and bemoaning it all wasn’t going to solve a thing. It wasn’t going to make Michael any less wrathful and get Adam back safely any sooner. Think Jophiel, you’re still a soldier, a warrior. She goes over the whole scenario in her head, trying to find any clues that may help her figure out who that really was. She remembers that smile that broke across the imposter’s lips, an odd thing to actually see a smile that looked WRONG on Gabriel’s face. She’d seen it before though… It was the smile of deceit and manipulation. That wasn’t going to help now though… so she’d come back to that point later. The Grace… focus on their Grace. It seemed normal enough… but… there was… an underlying chill…. Oh Father.

She didn’t want to believe it was him, but… if Michael was free, so was Lucifer. Lucifer took Adam. She had to start moving, had to start looking before it was too late, before something awful happened to Adam. She only hoped she could avoid Michael for now or at least manage to soothe his rage with the promise of fixing this. She had to be the one to find Adam, she had to make this right with the human. It was her responsibility. She wasn’t going to let Michael or another angel fix her mistake. She only hoped when she found Adam, if he was still in one piece, he could forgive her.

This is a little something from a project we’ve been cultivating for a little while now. We’re pretty proud of how it’s shaping out.
It’s a double exposure created in Photoshop (not in-camera) of a medium format shot from last winter and a digital shot taken this summer in Cape Cod.
If you’re interested, you can purchase a 12x12 print of it (and others!) on etsy.
